Pedestrian killed on I-35 identified, crash details revealed

Iowa State Patrol says a pedestrian was killed Friday evening after the car he was in hit a deer and he got out to look at the damage.

WARREN COUNTY, Iowa — Iowa State Patrol identified the pedestrian who was killed in Warren County Friday evening as 69-year-old Steven Kohli of Iowa City.

According to the crash report, Kohli was a passenger in a car that hit a deer on southbound I-35. Kohli got out to look at the damage. Another car then hit Kohli while trying to drive around the first car.

The accident occurred near mile marker 45 at 7:25 p.m.

Part of the highway was closed after the accident but has since reopened.

No other injuries were reported.
