Through traffic on University Avenue between 66th Street and 67th Street will be closed starting Monday morning at 6 a.m. and will remain closed until June 11 for utility work, the City of Windsor Heights announced Tuesday.

Warning signs will be posted at the intersections of 70th Street and University as well as 63rd Street and University.

Starting May 24, the entire intersection of 66th Street will be closed in all directions until the detour is lifted on June 11.

The City says the closure is necessary "so that storm sewer cross runs, paving, and utility work can be completed in the 6600 block of University Avenue and at the intersection of 66th Street."

Businesses in the area will still be open to customers and there will still be accessible to those locations during the closure. The City says message boards will be installed directing drivers to the posted detours and informing folks these businesses are still open.
