Climb Iowa opens bouldering gym

DES MOINES – If you wanted some exercise, but didn’t want to head outside, the East Village was the place to go.

Saturday was Climb Iowa’s grand opening of its downtown bouldering gym. The setup inside is a little bit different. There aren’t any ropes or pulleys, but it allows climbers to simulate rocks.

The gym’s manager tells us there are options for all skill levels.

“Just if you want to follow what our route setters produced and what their intentiomn was, you can follow the colors on the wall,” said Amanda Seals. “So, if you’re a beginner, I’d come out and follow the black ones and then you can move up to the other colors later.”

The new location is open every day. The Grimes location is celebrating 10 years of being in business.
