DES MOINES – Local 5 is keeping an eye on how the city is repairing storm sewers after the major floods at the end of June.
Monday night, city leaders reviewed engineer estimates that would repair several sewers throughout the city. Local 5 took at look at one of the sewer plans, at 38th Street and Amick Avenue. It’s going to cost more than $300,000 to repair. A good portion of that money, according to the city documents, will be coming from the federal government through FEMA’s disaster assistance grant.
Dozens of homeowners and residents complained to Local 5 and the city about the storm sewer situation and its failures during the flooding.
