DMACC students take part in mass casualty simulation

ANKENY – Students at DMACC put their teamwork to the test on Monday during a disaster simulation. It involved students from all across the school.

“We are doing our spring mass casualty multi-campus, multi-program simulation experience,” said Melody Bethards with DMACC. “We just say it’s some kind of public event and the car’s gone through a crowd of people but no one knows why the driver did it and so that allows our criminal justice students to try to figure out what might have happened in this situation. It allows our medical folks to try and figure out, you know, why did this person do it. Was it a medical condition or was there some other type of occurrence.”

Bethards said that the group will debrief after the simulation and asked the students what they learned.
