DES MOINES - Two bodies were located inside a Des Moines fire that went up in flames Wednesday morning.
The call came in around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday at a home on the 5000 block NW 1st Street between Ankeny and I-80 in Des Moines' Saylor Township.
Fire departments from Ankeny, Delaware Township, Johnston and Saylor Township all responded to the scene. Despite the code weather in the early morning, crews were able to stay safe.
"They were rotating through doing their jobs," said Lt. Heath Osberg with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. "They were able to sit inside their cars and stay out of the elements as much as possible."
The identity and gender of both adults are currently unknown.
The home is a total loss, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
