AMES– The city of Ames is partnering with six groups to create a Healthy Life Center that makes the life-long goal of healthy living accessible and available for people of all ages and socio-economic status.
The Mary Greeley Medical Center, Iowa State University, Des Moines Area Community College, Story County, and Heartland Senior Services have partnered with the city to contribute their expertise and services.
The projected budget for the Healthy Life Center is $49,065,000 and will funded by the collaboration partner’s contributions and private donations that total $20 million (41%). Residents will vote to see if they want to fund the balance of $29 million (59%) on Tuesday September 10th.
The center would be located on Scholl Road just north of Ontario Street in Ames.
