PERRY- Here's a combination you don't often think of: bicycling and bacon.
More than 2,000 people are embracing this concept.
The 5th annual Bacoon Ride headed out west from Waukee on Saturday morning. The 71 mile trek follows the Raccoon River Valley Trail, and has stops for bacon in every town along the way.
Riders can make as many---or as few stops as they want to---- along the way.
Some riders say it's a great warmup for RAGBRAI.
"It's just a great route, nice and flat. It's early in the season so it is kind of an easy ride for us and a good time that a whole group of our friends get together here in Waukee and here we go," said Kathy Roberts of McCook Lake, S.D.
The ride is presented by RAGBRAI, Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival and the Iowa Bicycle Coalition.
