FAIRFIELD – Phil Miller won Iowa’s 82nd legislative district special election Tuesday night.
Miller won over Republican challenger Travis Harris by less than 1,000 votes. Miller retains Democrats’ control over the seat, as Miller is taking over for the late-Curt Hanson.
There have been four special elections for legislative seats in the past eight months in Iowa, but this was one was the first in a “swing” district. Because Miller is taking over for a fellow Democrat, his win in the district does not change the make up of the Iowa House.
