Immediately following the funeral, a procession of law enforcement and military vehicles traveled from the church in West Des Moines to the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter. Puente-Morales was also a veteran of the Iowa National Guard.

Puente-Morales was remembered as “remarkable” and “unselfish.”
