How to safely view the solar eclipse

DES MOINES - For the first time in 26 years, a total solar eclipse will occur in the United States on August 21.

To watch the eclipse, people will need to stay safe and wear protective glasses. As demand for these glasses has skyrocketed, scams have entered the market.

Look for glasses with an ISO icon and make sure the manufacturer's name is clearly visible. You can get most glasses for less than five dollars. For more information on the solar eclipse and where you can buy safe glasses visit NASA’s website here.
