JOHNSTON - Imagine being able to walk or bike everywhere in your town. The City of Johnston wants to make that a reality.
City officials are doing a full study looking at sidewalk trail and crosswalk safety access. The city wants community members to give them areas they think could be safer or easier to get around. Their goal is to make it possible to walk or bike to any destination in the city.
"The fewer cars on the road the better off everybody's going to be. You're going to have less traffic congestion, safer pedestrian crossings, safer areas for bikes to ride up and down - it's just a benefit for everybody," said John Schmitz, director of Johnston Parks and Rec.
The city says you have until June 18th to give your feedback. You can file your comments and suggestions here.
