JOHNSTON – A picture of Johnston sisters, Olivia and Gabby Luna with local officers has gone viral on Facebook in the last 24 hours. Using their own money, they bought Girl Scout cookies and gave them to police officers they saw around town.
“You could see him smiling ear to ear and we gave him five boxes and as soon as we left I saw turn around and I’m sure he was taking them in to share which is so nice,” said the girls’ mom, Tara Luna.
“Everyone thinks cops like donuts, but we aren’t too picky so we will take cookies too,” said Officer Myles Schrage of the Johnston Police Deptartment.
The whole encounter caught Officer Schrage off guard, in the best of ways.
“A van whips in real quick and I’m thinking either something is wrong or this lady needs directions real fast,” he said. “And she gets out and asks if her daughters can give me something so she jumps out and her daughter says they have cookies for me.”
The sweet gesture is something Tara and the girls plan to keep doing.
The other officer who got the lucky cookies is from the Des Moines Police Department.
