Mosquitoes continue to pester the local area

GUTHRIE CENTER – Recent rainfall has locals talking about mosquitos more than ever. Football players in Guthrie Center have noticed mosquito swarms are very heavy during evening games. Players hope the recent drop in temperatures will cut back on the mosquitos.

“There were, it seemed like there were millions of them, swarms of them out there, and just play through it.,” said Cody Hackett, West Marshall Head Coach. “And we’ve got a goal and if we let something like that bring us down, it’s not going to get us to where we want to be.”

Anyone headed to an evening football game should probably still have a bug repellent handy. The Department of Public Health has looked into 73 cases of West Nile Virus this year, the most since 2003.
