DES MOINES - Neighbors in the Beaverdale neighborhood are picking up tree limbs, making calls about flooded basements, and getting roofs fixed after Thursday night's storms and Friday's rain.
One neighbor in the Beaverdale area said that there is a storm sewer drain to the east of her home. It couldn't handle the rain and backed water into her basement. She said that her sump pump wasn't working correctly Thursday night to help the situation.
Hoover High School and Meredith Middle School in Des Moines both let students leave class early on Friday because both buildings' roofs were impacted by hail from the storms overnight. Crews were working to get soaked areas cleaned up.
