CLIVE – Police in Clive are searching for two suspects they say bought $3,000 worth of prepaid gift cards with a stolen credit card.

Officers with the Clive Police Department took a report Monday from a person who said a credit card had been stolen from her purse, which was left in her vehicle parked in the lot of a fitness club around 9 a.m.

The card was used at a nearby retailer, where the suspects used the victims credit card to purchase various items along with $3,000 worth of prepaid gift cards. The two suspects have not been identified, but the department says the female appears to be a similar suspect that has been in the area on previous thefts and fraudulent uses of stolen credit cards.

If you recognize these two subjects, contact Detective Maurio Coleman at 515-867-5008.

Clive police also issued a reminder to never leave any personal belongings unaccompanied.

“We also would like to take the time to remind people not to leave items containing your personal and financial identity inside your unoccupied vehicles. If you find yourself to be a victim, you should quickly report the incident to the local jurisdiction and immediately contact your financial institutions to close out bank and credit card accounts compromised by the theft.”
