The second of three suspects has been arrested in connection with a 2018 home invasion in Kelley.

20-year-old Manuel Balderas was arrested Thursday and booked into the Story County Jail on seven charges: Sexual Abuse in the First Degree – Forcible Rape; Robbery in the First Degree – Threaten Injury; Theft in the Second Degree; Willful Injury – Felony Assault; Burglary in the First Degree – Burglary/Breaking and Entering; Theft in the Second Degree; Operating Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent.

82-year-old Patricia Kyle was the victim of the brutal home invasion in August 2018. Police say three men entered her home close to midnight on August 23, 2018 and beat her, leaving the elderly woman severely bruised and battered.

“This would be one of the most brutal assaults, especially in a home invasion situation,” Capt. Barry Thomas with the Story County Sheriff’s Office said at the time.

Kyle was sprayed in the face with a “chemical agent” resulting in temporary loss of sight and was struck in the head and face and sexually assault, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Property taken from the home is valued at less than $1,000.

According to court records, Kyle stated she was struck in the head multiple times and sexually abused while in her home.

The three suspects then went to a second residence in Kelley and stole more than $1,500 of property, including a 1998 Cadillac DeVille. The car was recovered the next day.

Louis Cruz, another suspect in the case, was arrested in Texas

Another suspect, Jacob Jimenez, is believed to be in the Story County area.

Balderas is currently being held at the Story County Jail.
