TRURO – A verbal threat was made against the safety of the I-35 school in Truro.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office tells Local 5 that a school employee reported the threat to administration on Monday.
Following an investigation, it was learned that an on-site construction worker at the I-35 schools made a comment in regards to the recent synagogue shooting that took place in Pittsburgh and evacuating a school. Parts of this conversation were over heard by a school employee who was nearby. That employee reported what was heard to I-35 administration who then reported the incident to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
After speaking to additional witnesses, school personnel and employees of the construction company, it’s not believed that a credible threat exists. The Sheriff’s Office will continue an on-scene presence until it’s decided that it’s no longer needed and school personnel are comfortable.
