Students let out early of two schools because of hail damage

Local News

UPDATE: Due to storm damage at the schools, Hoover High School and Meredith Middle School will dismiss at 11:30 a.m.

There won’t be any evening activities.

Hail from Thursday night’s thunderstorm has damaged the roof at both Hoover High School and Meredith Middle School.

According to school officials, this has caused water damage to parts of the schools, including about a half dozen classrooms that will not be in use Friday.

Classes in those rooms will be held in other parts of school, and the school district’s operation staff has been on-site since very early Friday morning to begin the clean up work.

Crews will be working through the weekend to make repairs.
