DES MOINES – A Des Moines hospital was on lockdown after a patient arrived with a gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon.
Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines confirmed to Local 5 that a person was dropped off around 2 p.m. Tuesday with a gunshot wound. It is unclear at this time how the patient was transported to the hospital.
Two cars sped away from University Ave between 6th and 7th St. from the Evelyn Davis Center after a Des Moines patrol officer heard 10 to 15 gunshots, according to Sgt. Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department.
Police say the victim is a teenage male who is currently in good condition. The lockdown has since been lifted.
