VAN METER – After receiving numerous complaints regarding cars speeding when entering the city on DeSoto Road, Van Meter police have been doing extra enforcement on the speeders.
According to police, there is a warning sign to reduce speed as you approach the city limits. There are two daycares at the bottom of the hill. Police officers have been enforcing the slower speeds on drivers with warnings and citations. They said in a social media post that “due to the lack of compliance, enforcement action will be by citation going forward.”
Some cities have a process for residents to complain about a traffic situation, such as speeding in a particular area. In West Des Moines, you can submit a complaint online, giving detail of when the traffic situation happens during the day and where.
