Victim identified in Ames weekend shooting

AMES - A man is being sought for allegedly trying to kill a female Saturday afternoon.

According to Ames investigators, police were called to Mary Greeley Medical Center on January 12 for a report of a female who was being treated for a gunshot wound. According to the victim and a witness, the female was shot in the chest by a male while inside a residence at 122 S. Russell Avenue. The victim was transported by private vehicle to Mary Greeley Medical Center.

The victim has been identified ast 19-year-old Ieisha Jabbar of Ames. Jabbar was released from the hospital Sunday.

Police say the suspet in the case is Rodney D. Halterman, age 18, address unknown.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Halterman. He's being sought for attempted murder.

An investigation into this incident continues by the Ames Police Department.
