WAUKEE – Late Sunday night the Waukee Fire Department and area stations responded to a large fire at a printing plant.
The fire started just after 9:30 p.m. at 400 Demming Avenue which is home to Quad Graphics.
This is a 24-hour manufacturing facility, so there were people working when the fire began. Everyone was already evacuated by the time crews got there.
Waukee Fire thinks the blaze started from an HVAC unit in the area. Since this building has tons of printing materials, crews were worried the fire could easily spread, but they were able to keep it contained to the one room.
Work resumed like normal today for the business.
