It was an impressive year for Joe Wieskamp in his rookie season with the Hawkeyes, averaging 11 points and nearly five rebounds per game — starting all 35 of Iowa’s contests.

He was also named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team and the Muscatine native says he believes this season was a preview of things to come.

“Can’t ask for much better of a freshman year for me,” Wieskamp said. “I learned so much throughout this whole year, just changed a lot as a person and as a player. Learned how to scout different teams, go out there and execute against some of the best players in the country, you know, NBA-potential players, so I can’t ask for much better than that. We have so much talent in this room…this is just the starting point for us. We know that we’re gonna have a great offseason as well and get ready for next year. I promise you we will be back.”
