PELLA, IA – Pella Senior quarterback Noah Clayberg announced via Twitter Sunday night that he will play football for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Clayberg will join the team as a grayshirt, which means he won’t officially join the Hawkeyes until January 2017, but when he does, he will be on full scholarship and have all of his eligibility remaining.

Clayberg led the Dutch to a 28-0 record and two state titles.
This past season he racked up more than 3,500 yards of total offense and 51 touchdowns.

Clayberg, the Gatorade Player of the Year in Iowa also had offers from South Dakota, South Dakota State and Western Illinois.

Clayberg says coaches at Iowa see him as either a free or strong safety, a position he also played at Pella.

He’ll be joining fellow Dutch teammates Austin Schulte and Garret Jansen, who will also play for the Hawkeyes.
