Jackie Schmillen
 

Jackie was born and raised in Cherokee, IA but graduated from Idyllwild Arts Academy in California.  After receiving her BFA in Musical Theatre from “The U”, University of Miami, she began her career in theater touring the country in various musical productions.  Jackie eventually made her way back to Northwest Iowa and entered the world of Television. Jackie joined the CW Iowa 23 team in spring of 2013.

She was inducted into the Iowa Rock n Roll Hall of fame with the group Rockestra and won a 2018 Cloris Award for portrayal of “Ursula” in Disney’s The Little Mermaid at the Des Moines Playhouse. She has sang the National Anthem at the World Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas to a crowd of over 70,000 people and broadcast on TV. 

Fun Facts:

Jackie and Tink, her 2lb Yorkie, and Eddy, her Shih Tzu reside in West Des Moines.

Her favorite Iowa State Fair food is deep fried oreoes or twinkies.

Someplace you will never find her is at a horror movie. 

If she was not in TV she’d be performing musical theatre.
