Dana Searles joined Local 5 in June of 2023 as a reporter and multiskilled journalist.
Dana comes from the University of Oklahoma where she earned two bachelor’s degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. During college, she was a member of OU Nightly where she was a reporter, anchor, and producer. During her time, she was nominated for a collegiate Emmy and was awarded first place in the “Newscast” category at the Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association Awards.
In 2022, Dana was a News 21 fellow where she reported on the topic “Policing in America” and wrote two investigative articles on traffic stops.
Dana is originally from Mahtomedi, Minnesota and is so excited to move back to the Midwest.
When Dana is not in the newsroom, she is usually cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners or exploring her new home in Des Moines! Feel free to say hi if you ever see Dana around town!
