NEW SHARON– The community is mourning the loss of three children, all from the same family.

On Thursday just before 1 p.m., a rock truck collided with a car at the intersection of Queens Avenue and 130th in New Sharon.

The crash killed the driver, Jamie Singletary, 16, and his younger brothers Carson Singletary, 13, and Christian Singletary, 10. All three of the boys went to North Mahaska Community Schools.

On Friday, the school showed their support to everyone in the community.

“We knew that we wanted to help in some way and by having counselors and clergy today at the school. That’s one way we could begin the process to help everyone,” said Superintendent  Angela Livezey.

Livezey says the community and neighboring communities are spreading support for the Singletary family.
She wants them to know that they will be here for them during their time of mourning.

“The loss of the child is often the most difficult thing anyone has to deal with,” she said.

The family has two other children who were not involved in the crash. They will be entering 7th and 9th grade this fall.

The community is accepting donations at the New Sharon US Bank and online through a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs. For a link to their fundraising site, click here.
