DES MOINES – A young woman thought she found the perfect home on Craigslist to rent for her family.
But when she emailed the renter, something didn’t seem legit.
Heather Jensen says, “He (the renter) told me he was out of town on a business trip which really threw me off.”
Realtors say if it’s somebody’s house they’re renting, they’re going to live here. If they don’t, somebody will keep an eye on the house to make sure it’s in good shape. And if the price of the property seems to good to be true it probably is.
Realtors say it’s a busy time of year in the housing market so people need to be extra careful – and contact police if this happens to you.
