DES MOINES – It has been about a week since the water main break on Fourth Street and Court Avenue, but businesses in the area are still struggling to reopen.

According to Des Moines Water Works, the busy intersection will reopen by August 15th.

The owner of The Copper Cup, Eric Hartung, said it will take about six weeks for his business to re-open.

“The walls had to be ripped out. The bathrooms need to be redone, I am not sure how much money I have in damages but just in clean up I think it has been about ten thousand dollars”, said Hartung.

The Des Moines Farmers Market will also have to do some adjustments. According to the Greater Des Moines Partnership, thirty vendors were displaced.

“Please stop by the information booth we have an amazing information booth at 3rd and Court, it is a red tent that you can’t miss and our team will help you find your favorite vendors”, said Kelly Floss.
