Casey's adding 40 more locations than originally planned in 2024

In early November, the Ankeny-based company announced it would venture into the Lone Star State by purchasing and converting 22 convenience stores in Texas.

DES MOINES, Iowa — More people than previously expected will have a chance to grab a slice of breakfast pizza this upcoming year.

Casey's General Stores, Inc. confirmed Thursday that an additional 40 stores will open in the 2024 fiscal year, topping what the company anticipated for the timeframe.

Originally, Casey's planned on opening 110 storefronts across its 17-state market, which includes Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Kentucky and more. Now, the nation's third-largest convenience store chain is expecting 150 new locations by the end of its 2024 Fiscal Year — next April.

In early November, the Ankeny-based company announced it would venture into the Lone Star State by purchasing and converting 22 convenience stores in Texas.

"These stores will serve as a springboard into the great state of Texas for Casey’s, while still located within our self-distribution network," said Casey’s President and CEO Darren Rebelez in a statement in November. "We look forward to continuing to serve these communities, welcoming our new team members to the Casey's family, and bringing our delicious pizza to North Texas soon."

The Iowa-based company also reported a second-quarter net income of $158.8 million — over 15% more than the reported $137.5 million from the same period in 2022

It was not stated in the quarterly results which states or markets the new locations will be in.
