Indiana Fever select Caitlin Clark No. 1 overall in 2024 WNBA Draft

Caitlin Clark is joining an Indiana Fever team that also has last year's No. 1 overall pick, Aliyah Boston of South Carolina.

BROOKLYN, Iowa — The Indiana Fever chose Iowa guard Caitlin Clark as the nation's No. 1 overall pick on Monday night's WNBA Draft

Clark, a fourth-year senior who's shattered countless collegiate records and had her #22 jersey retired by Iowa, has raised excitement for women's basketball to new heights during her time with the Hawkeyes.

Now, the West Des Moines native will bring her talents — averaging a whopping 31.6 average points per game this past season, uncanny ability to logo 3-pointers and much more — to the Fever. She'll play alongside Aliyah Boston, last year's No. 1 overall pick and 2023 WNBA rookie of the year, as the team seeks a second WNBA championship title.

"Caitlin Clark is the whole package," the Fever shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, following the pick.

Whether it's trading cards, custom shirts or viewership records, the "Caitlin Clark Effect" has rippled from the courtside to every day life, with the superstar shooter appearing in Hy-Vee, State Farm and Nike ads.

The Fever announced last week that 36 of their 40 regular season games in the upcoming season will be on national television. That includes two games on ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, CBS, CBS Sports Network, Prime Video and NBA TV.

Clark surpassed Kelsey Plum for No. 1 on the all-time NCAA women's basketball scoring charts, eclipsed Pete Maravich's record for all-time scoring in NCAA basketball history and passed Lynette Woodard to become the all-time leading scorer in major college women's basketball history on Feb. 28.

She's taken home countless honors, including an ESPY for best women's college athlete, the title of Naismith's Women's Player of the Year, 1st-team All-American honors and AP Player of the Week

In 2023, she and the Hawkeyes made it to the title game against LSU, which they lost 102-85.

Clark most recently led the Hawkeyes to their second-consecutive appearance in the NCAA women's college basketball tournament championship, where they ultimately fell to South Carolina 87-75
