Severe weather sweeps through north-central Iowa Sunday evening

A tornado touched down north in Otho at 11:23 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

POCAHONTAS, Iowa — The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down north in Otho at 11:23  p.m. Sunday.

Although no damage was immediately reported in Otho, several limbs were knocked over in Dayton, according to emergency managers in the area. 

Tornado warnings were issued for Boone, Butler, Calhoun, Franklin, Pocahontas, and Webster counties at various points Sunday night

The National Weather Service said several funnel clouds were spotted earlier in the night as well, especially across Pocahontas County.
