Suspect in custody after Friday morning homicide, Marshall County deputies say

Deputies say Lasley is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 28-year-old Mario Murillo and 33-year-old Frances Tillie Gasca.

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — Law enforcement have located the man wanted in connection to the death of two people in Marshalltown early Friday morning. 

29-year-old Ilias Julian Lasley was taken into custody in Des Moines at approximately 4:10 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies say Lasley is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 28-year-old Mario Murillo and 33-year-old Frances Tillie Gasca of Marshalltown. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.

Lasley's arrest comes a day after deputies found Murillo and Gasca deceased inside a Marshalltown home while officials were conducting a welfare check.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Marshall County Attorney's Office continue to assist the sheriff's office in this investigation.
