$282,000 of drugs, guns seized in Storm Lake raids

STORM LAKE (KCAU) – Law enforcement arrested three people while they conducted three raids of residential properties, according to a release from the Storm Lake Police Department.

Started Thursday around 4:30 p.m., members of the SLPD Tactical Entry Team and the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Department SERT Team executed a search warrant at 1005 East 9th Street in Storm Lake. At the residence, they seized about four pounds of what is believed to be methamphetamine. They also seized a 2012 Infiniti. Police arrested Billy Fang, 28, of Storm Lake, as well. 

Law enforcement also searched a residence on the 700 block of West 8th Street in Storm Lake. They found an additional half pound of suspected crystal methamphetamine, two hand guns, two assault rifles. Two of the guns had been stolen from other states. They also seized about 70 pounds of marijuana, 50 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, a Blue 2004 Infiniti and other drug paraphernalia.

At a third location at a residence at 401 Cayuga #107 at 8:50 p.m., they seized methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia from the residence. Police arrested Meng Her, 37, of Storm Lake. Officers saw a wanted man connected to the investigation whil on scene. He was driving a black 2008 BMW. After making a traffic stop, police arrested the driver, Marvin Moua, 34, of Storm Lake. They also seized the BMW.

Authorities estimate that the street value of the drugs seized in the searches is worth more than $282,000.

Fang was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, failure to affix a drug tax stamp (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp (marijuana), possession with intent to deliver psilocybin mushrooms, failure to affix a drug tax stamp (psilocybin mushrooms), and two counts of trafficking stolen weapons, all varying levels of felonies. Fang was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail held on $100,000 bond.

Her was charged with possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her was the Buena Vista County Jail where he was booked and held on a bond of $1,300.

The arrest warrants for Moua were charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, failure to affix a drug tax stamp (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp (marijuana). He was also charged with two counts trafficking stolen weapons, possession with intent to deliver psilocybin mushrooms, failure to affix a drug tax stamp (psilocybin mushrooms). He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail and held on a $100,000 bond. 

The Storm Lake PD K-9 Unit, Storm Lake PD Tactical Team, Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Department SERT Team and the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement assisted the Storm Lake Police Department in the investigation.
