Polk County Attorney's Office: Des Moines man convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor

Mead was accused of sending sexually explicit videos of children using the app Kik.

DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines man will be sentenced to up to 55 years in prison after being convicted of sexual exploitation

A Polk County jury on Wednesday found 33-year-old Grant Adam Mead guilty of 11 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Each of the counts is a Class D felony.

Mead was accused of sending sexually explicit videos of children using the app Kik, according to court documents. MediaLab, the owner of Kik, reported the videos to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

From there, Des Moines police traced the videos back to Mead. The videos depicted 11 different victims, some of whom were under 10 years old.

The jury deliberated for about four hours before pronouncing Mead guilty, according to the Polk County Attorney's Office.

Mead's sentencing is scheduled for June 21.
