A pro-Palestine encampment was established at the University of Iowa's Hubbard Park for less than an hour Monday morning before university police (UIPD) ousted the demonstrators.

UIPD learned of the encampment just before 7:30 a.m. on Monday, May 6 according to a news release. Authorities informed the campers that they needed to remove their materials within 30 minutes, or UI police would remove them and possibly arrest demonstrators.

According to The Daily Iowan, the short-lived encampment was organized by pro-Palestine protestors.

According to UI police, the campers continued building a fence with chicken wire, wood pallets, plywood and a sheet of corrugated metal. Police say that this is when they decided to enforce university police and begin removing the materials.

UI police say they gave one final warning that the organizers leave or be arrested, at which point the organizers chose to leave. No protesters were arrested.

According to an Instagram page from the group that organized the encampment, University of Iowa Action for Palestine, the group "will be back."
