STORY COUNTY – Residents in Story County are worried about a new hog confinement that could be coming soon.
Long View Pork LLC. applied for permits to build three hog confinements in the county, which would house around 15,000 hogs.
Local 5 spoke with people who live in the county and they are not happy about the news. There are concerns about all the excess manure the new confinements will make. As well as the noise that all of these animals will be making.
County officials will vote next week to deny or accept the application and say no matter what they decide, the DNR has the last word.
A master matrix is used to determine if a hog confinement is suitable in a certain location. Neighbors in Story County say these matrixes are not aggressive enough.
