FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers opening in 4 Iowa counties

The Disaster Recovery Centers are meant to aid those affected by the Greenfield tornado, as well as those affected by tornadoes in central Iowa on April 26 and 27.

GREENFIELD, Iowa — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center in Greenfield following a devastating tornado that uprooted lives and killed five people.

Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are staffed with recovery specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration who can provide information on services, assistance programs and completing applications.

The announcement comes after President Joe Biden approved Iowa's request for a Major Disaster Declaration, which covers Adair County.

In addition to the Discovery Resource Center in Greenfield, FEMA will open temporary DRCs in three other Iowa counties to help those who were impacted by the April 26-27 tornadoes in central Iowa. The center will rotate between Ringgold, Union and Clark County, staying at each location for four days.
