Beaverdale Books reopens for in-store browsers after 13 months

The bookstore had been relying on remote business to stay open during the pandemic.

DES MOINES, Iowa — After 13 long months, Beaverdale Books in Des Moines is finally reopening its doors for folks to browse its shelves in person. 

The bookstore has been relying on remove business to stay open. 

Curbside pickup is still available at the store, and hours will still be limited until further notice. 

"Our customers have been so supportive," said Alice Meyer, owner of the bookstore. "We've gotten by doing curbside pick up, home delivery, mail orders and they've just been so kind and patient and supportive of us that it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be I was just amazed at the support."

Masks are required for all patrons older than two. Only six people will be allowed in the store at one time. The bookstore will be wiping down high-traffic areas and providing hand sanitizer to keep patrons healthy as they browse the shelves.
