Slipknot bringing Knotfest 2024 lineup to Water Works Park in Des Moines

25 years after the Des Moines-grown band released its self-titled album, Slipknot returns to central Iowa with its metal music festival.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Slipknot is coming home to Des Moines in the fall to headline Knotfest, the metal festival the band founded in 2012.

This year's event at Water Works Park is not only a homecoming for Slipknot, which formed in Des Moines during the '90s, it's also a special 25th-anniversary event, marking a quarter century since the release of Slipknot's 1999 self-titled album.

Bands in this year's lineup include Knocked Loose, Till Lindemann (the former frontman of the Rammstein), Hatebreed, and GWAR, which has band members that style themselves as intergalactic warriors.

Also taking the stage are groups such as Zulu, Dying Wish, Swollen Teeth, Spine & Dose, Twin Temple and Holy Wars. Among those rising voices is Vended, a metal band that shares DNA with Slipknot not only due to a common hometown and genre, but also because Vended members Griffin Taylor and Simon Crahan are the children of Slipknot's Corey Taylor and Shawn Crahan, respectively.

The announcement also noted that the Knotfest Museum will be revamped with featured items and memorabilia celebrating Slipknot.

Pre-sale tickets for the event go on sale Tuesday, April 30 at 10 a.m., with the general public able to buy tickets at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 3 through the festival's website.

Prior to this announcement, Knotfest most recently came to Iowa in 2021, rocking Indianola. Since then, Slipknot has released The End, So Far, the band's latest studio album.

Knotfest Iowa returns September 21, 2024 featuring Slipknot, Till Lindemann, Knocked Loose and many more for a one night...
